My parents moved frequently from council house to council house so I was used to making friends ditching them and finding new ones. My parents hid the fact that I passed my 11+ until I was 60 years old because there involved travel and the cost of a uniform. From being an office boy at Thos. Cook I graduated to being an airline reservations clerk. Then onwards and upwards to being an airline sales representative for Lufthansa. One day they decided to send me on an intelligence evaluation and it turned out the Germans discovered I had a 'genius' IQ. From then on I was fast tracked through management until I was running a very large area of the airline and virtually independent. So the boy with hardly any qualifications ended up deciding if a graduate was fit to work for an airline. Early retired got into finance and retired to the Cote d'Azur. I once restored and old lodge house which was in the grounds of a six form college. I often thought of telling the students who failed their A levels it wasn't the end of the world.

This is a brilliant analysis of what happens in the British education system, and what the aims of powers that shouldn't be are.

My head blew off and I woke up a few years ago after a work issue, but I haven't dared going down that one yet.

I need to rethink my whole life, and there's a lot of work to do there....

Thank you Miri 🙏
